 Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the United States and the tenth deepest in the world, with a maximum depth measured at 1,645 feet and an average depth of 1,000 feet. Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide and boasts 72 miles of shoreline. With an average surface elevation of 6,225 ft. above sea level, Lake Tahoe is the highest lake of its size in the United States. The water temperature near the surface cools to 40 to 50oF during the winter months and warms to 65 to 70oF during August and September. Below a depth of 600-700 ft , the water temperature remains at a constant 39oF. Lake Tahoe has a water clarity of about 70 ft deep! Lake Tahoe never freezes due to the constant mass movement of water from the bottom to the surface. In February 1989, Emerald Bay froze over for the first time since 1952.

Captain Gene St. Denis is a seasoned, professional guide. He has been fishing Lake Tahoe since 1981, and is one of the finest guides on Lake Tahoe. He is knowledgeable, fun, courteous and runs one of the cleanest operations found anywhere. Gene knows Lake Tahoe and how to catch fish, with over a 90% success rate. He is fully insured and Licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game and is a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain. He is also a Licensed Master Guide as well as author of several articles on fishing Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra Mountain Lakes.

Mackinaw (Lake Trout), Gene's specialty, are the main attraction at Lake Tahoe and are prized table fare. Lake Tahoe is the most famous Mackinaw lake in the west. "Macks" from three to five pounds are an everyday occurence, six to ten pounds are quite common, and fish of 20 pounds or larger are a very real possibility on any of our charters! Mackinaw (Lake Trout) are true "Giants of the Deep" and provide very exciting fishing year round on Lake Tahoe. The Rainbows and Browns are seasonal and provide great fishing when available for top-line action.

  

CHARTER RATES & LOCATION

We launch at Cave Rock boat launch, located just minutes from South Shore Casino Hotels and Motels. The Cave Rock Boat launch is part of the Nevada State Park system.
Charters are 1/2 day (generally 4 hours) and are available in the morning and afternoon.
